Ok, so I am not guaranteeing anything in the form of a commitment to the blog. I was pretty good in 2007 about posting with a fair amount of consistency (22 in all!), but a lot of things have changed. I don't have as much time on my hands as I did then and I realize that is disappointing to the literally 10's of people that look at this (and promptly realize that I am mostly full of shit and click off).
First off, I have to urge you to vote on November 4th. Apathy and complacency immediately take away your right to bitch when things aren't going the way you hoped they would. I can't tell you how many people I have run into (mind you, I am an educator, so I deal with a lot of people on a daily basis) that have made statements along the lines of "I'm not informed enough," or "I don't really care," or even "I don't have an opinion." How can you not have an opinion when we are all inundated with information (granted, some in the form of negative propaganda) everywhere we go everyday? Inform yourself and choose a side to back.
This is the part where I am going to lose some people. Please stay with me if you start to feel your right click finger twitching because it's not all that bad. I am definitely pro-Obama for a very fundamental reason. I really feel that he is speaking for me and will be the president that makes changes that I can back. I am not going to go deep into details. I do have specific reasons why I support Obama. It's not blind faith.
Next, here is why I don't back McCain. I can't back someone who seems to want to perpetuate the current administration's policies (especially those involving the war in Iraq saying something to the effect of he is willing to stay there for 100 years if that is what it takes), makes light of bombing any country at all,
or makes extremely poor judgement when choosing a running mate that stands a chance of taking office in the event of his death (the man is 73 years old). The choice of Sarah Palin as a running mate is poor judgement because of her lack of experience that becomes more and more apparent with every tragically comedic television appearence. Did you see the Katie Couric interview? Here is a portion:
So, her foreign policy experience is based on the proximity of the state she governs to two foreign countries? I also don't like the fact that she has been touting herself as an advocate for kids with special needs (she is the parent of a child with special needs) when she cut the budget for the Alaskan Special Olympics in half (I think I heard the figure $275,000) during her time in the governor's mansion.
That is all the bashing that I am going to do. I just wanted to let you know that I am making a clear headed decision based on factual material. In daily conversation, unless I am talking to someone who is of the same mindset, I do not bring these things up. Politics are as personal as the underwear that you choose to wear. I have made the mistake of making assumptions and offending people with my politics when that was not the intention at all. I will say that I am well aware that the Obama-Biden ticket is not without flaws. I am just more willing to live with those than the ones presented on the opposing ticket. It's a lesser of two evils scenario.
Anyway, chew it up and make comments. I'm here to listen.
