I was watching "It's Thanksgiving, Charlie Brown" with my son earlier today and I noticed something at the end of the show that I never noticed before. Let me start off by clarifying a couple of things. I recognize that humans come in many different colors, shapes, and sizes, but no matter what ethnicity or color, we are all essentially humans. Recognizing this, I would definitely be accused of cannibalism if I, a white American man, were to indulge in eating a Japanese man, right? Ok, now can we assume that the same rules apply in the bird family, right? I think so. Birds come in many different colors, shapes, and sizes but, they are all essentially birds, right? Then why, at the end of Charles Schulz's beloved Thanksgiving cartoon, does Snoopy's bird pal Woodstock eat turkey with the famous beagle? Was Mr. Schulz hinting at a much darker, sinister side to the little yellow bird that flies backwards and upside down? Or, was Woodstock just oblivious to the fact that he was eating a cooked member of the same order?

On a more serious note, I would like to send out an extra special Thanksgiving F*** You to Citigroup. They are using the bailout money that taxpayers are providing them (with the intent to address company woes brought on by the credit crisis) to remodel their top executives' offices and entertain swanky guests. Let's say I am having trouble with paying my mortgage. I go to my parents for a bailout and they give me enough money to pay the mortgage for two months. I'm going to use that money to pay my mortgage because that is what it was intended for, right? I'm not going to go out and put a down payment on a brand new Mercedes. You can read all about the most recent atrocities committed against the American taxpayer here. Chances are, you didn't even feel yourself being violated.

Back it up one step..... maybe if they didn't spend so much money on wasteful things BEFORE the problem, there wouldn't be a problem. Why the need for private jets when your company is struggling? They blew money they didn't have before they got ahold of taxpayer money. In private industry you sink or swim, when the Gov't gets involved they pull you to shore and don't stop you from jumping back in. It's only just beginning.... save your cash...
