In response to one of 5 people that read my blog...

My Uncle responded to my last posting:
Hey Greg, Interesting spin but are you wiling to look at both sides of the coin? No comment on the Obama supporters in NYC who had a cardboard cutout of Palin and had people 'shoot' her with paint ball guns? If anyone did that to Obama it would be an outrage. You referenced a crackpot girl who came up with that story about a black guy, or was she a plant by the DNC to make waves? It is possible, it is politics. You must also admit there are people who are voting for him only because he is black. I have a question, do you not think the USA is the greatest nation in the world? If you do, then why should we try to become like other nations? Just because they don't like Bush we should change to appease the world? Or do you think the USA is NOT the greatest nation in the world? Love ya like a nephew!
In response to Uncle Ralph:
I appreciate that you read my blog. There is certainly nothing wrong with a good debate! Yes, I am willing to look at both sides of the coin. I always try to. I certainly acknowledge that there is ugliness within both camps. For every crazy Obama supported shooting Sarah Palin cutouts at campaign rallies, theres a McCain supporter in his crowd yelling "kill him!" at the very mention of Obama's name. I will validate your theory that maybe this crazy girl was a DNC plant... there are certainly extremists on both sides as well who would be willing to do whatever it took to make the other guy look bad. Like you said, "... it is politics." It has gotten very ugly.
About America... I do like living here and I do believe that it is the greatest place to live. We have got freedoms that other countries only dream of. I do, however, think that we have some cleaning up to do. I think we have made some very poor decisions in the last few years and we have made people that were previously on friendly, neutral terms, into potential enemies (Russia comes to mind). I just think that maybe we have played the part of the world police for a little too long.

Cleaning up to do? I think these other countries have a lot of thanking to do. For every unpopular thing our country has done, there are three great things we have done that go unmentioned. These other countries that are upset with us have no problem calling on us to help them or bitching that we haven't done enough for another that is in need. As far as Russia, don't ever think we were on friendly terms. It may have appeared that way but it hasn't been. Putin is a far more dangerous man than Bush could ever be. I agree we shouldn't be the world police, however, some countries need a big brother. We are the Greatest Country in the world and need not apologize to anyone for anything. If we pleased everyone in the world,(impossible to do) we would still be hated just for being who we are. On a different note, what qualifies Obama for the Presidency?
